Festivals in London this weekend

If you're in London this weekend you have a choice of two very different music festivals...

If you want to pretend it's still summer, head to East London for Offset festival in Hainault Forest Country Park, Redbridge. The weekend festival features innovative art-rock and post-punk from a line up that includes The Horrors, The Slits, The Futureheads, Damo Suzuki, Dananananaykroyd, Die! Die! Die!, S.C.U.M, The Chapman Family,  Kasms, Tim Burgess (DJ set), John and Jehn, R O M A N C E, Disconcerts, Cheval Sombre, Math Head, Gyratory System, Wild Palms, Teeth of the Sea and Private Trousers.

Meanwhile Kings Place Festival '09, which starts today, is also a weekender, repeating last year's remarkable feat of putting on 100 45-minute concerts over three days. The festival features a number of contemporary music events including Meet the Composer sessions with Robert Saxton, Christopher Fox and Simon Bainbridge, a series of concerts by the London Sinfonietta with music by Richard Barrett, Larry Goves, Colin Matthews and Dai Fujikura, and a series of concerts curated by Sound and Music ourselves, with the remarkable ensemble notes inegales playing a series of three concerts featuring works by Peter Wiegold, multimedia artist Christian Marclay and up-and-coming composers from the Sound and Music Shortlist.
